Life as a Medical Student in Warsaw, Poland

According to legend, Wars, an old fisherman and his wife Sawa gave sanctuary to a Polish Duke on the run. Once he got back in power, the nobleman expressed his gratitude by gifting the local land to the old couple and naming it Warsawa in their honour.

Today, Warsaw remains a sanctuary, but it serves such a purpose for aspiring doctors this time. Medical students love to stroll the city’s streets in a leisurely fashion from one landmark to another, and there are plenty of them, especially in the Old Town area.

In old Warsaw, Medieval gothic churches, castles, and townhouses mix with late Renaissance and Baroque palaces, theatres, and squares. These genuinely spectacular landmarks are not far from the contemporary highrise glass buildings. Students often feel like time travelers while chasing their goals across the city.

Warsaw is also renowned for its eco-friendly cityscape. The city ranked 8th place among Europe’s greenest cities, and it boasts an abundance of local parks and gardens. Moreover, most streets are lined with trees, and the Vistula River further cleans the air from dust particles. Thus, aspiring doctors have plenty of options to clear up their minds after a day of studying or reconnecting with nature.

Term Dates

The academic year is divided into 2 semesters. Each term ends with an examination period. The schedule also includes several breaks and days off during holidays.
