Georgian National University was founded in 2001 by Ilia Chavchavadze. Since its inception, the university has always strived to be a domestically and internationally recognised higher education institution.

This is why it has quickly grown to become one of (if not) the best universities in Georgia, especially for medical students.

Naturally, in present days the university attracts not only Georgians but international students from all over the world as well. SEU has achieved this status by providing the most convenient educational environment and infrastructure for studying medicine in Georgia.

Georgian National University (SEU) offers a 6-year medicine course in English where you will graduate as a certified doctor of medicine. There's no graduate-entry medicine here, but student transfers are accepted.

The university is located at 9 Tsinandali Street, Tbilisi, Georgia.

The tuition fee for the 6-year medicine in English course is $5500 (around € 4700 ) per year.

Admission & Entry Requirements for Georgian National University

The good news is there’s no entrance exam here. Admission is quick and simple and consists of a short interview where your motivation and performance will be evaluated.

To be eligible for entry into GNU, you must have an English proficiency certificate. Also, you should have obtained at least 50% grades in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in your high-school diploma.

Student Accommodation

Georgian National University provides its students with student hostels, which are fully furnished and provide the basic amenities required for optimal comfort. However, since prices in Georgia are affordable, many students prefer renting an apartment in the city.

A single-bedroom apartment will cost you between €200 – €300 per month. Add utility bills, food and entertainment to the picture, and you are looking to spend around €500 per month.

Term Dates

The academic year usually starts at the beginning of October and ends around mid-January. You will have your midterm exams between 12 – 24 November. The final examination period is throughout February.

The second semester starts in mid-March and lasts until the end of June. Midterm exams are taken starting late April until mid-May. The final exam period is in the first 2 weeks of July.
