About Charles University Third Faculty of Medicine

If you are looking for a medical university with ancient traditions and centuries of experience in education, Charles University is what you are searching for. It was established in 1348, which makes it one of the oldest and largest universities in the Czech Republic.

Today, the university has 17 faculties located in Pilsen, Hradec Kralove and Prague. The main campus is in Prague, but there are medical faculties in all three cities. The University’s third faculty of medicine is in Prague. 

Prague is the capital of the Czech Republic and the largest city in the country, with more than 1.3 million inhabitants. The city dates back to the 7th century and impresses every visitor with its beauty and historical destinations for tourists.

Speaking about rankings, Charles University takes place among the top 3 European universities in the Central and Eastern parts of the continent. And today, it is like a home to more than 50,000 students.

The third faculty of Charles University offers a 6-year medical programme in English. The curriculum is well-balanced to guarantee the best possible education methods where the students won’t be overburdened. 

Charles University Third Faculty of Medicine offers international applicants a 5-month preparatory course in English.

This faculty doesn’t offer graduate entry but accepts student transfers.

Charles University Third Faculty of Medicine Admission & Entry Requirements

To apply for this medical faculty, you must sit for an exam in the subjects of Biology, Chemistry, and by your choice, Physics or Mathematics. The test consists of 90 multiple-choice questions with a maximum point of 90.


The diploma that you receive after successful graduation is recognised all around the world. This means you can apply to continue your studies or start practising in every country in and outside of the EU. 

The university is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools and is recognised by the World Health Organisation.


The university has several dormitory buildings in every city where faculties are located. The dorms consist of single and shared rooms with private bathrooms and furniture. The rooms are equipped with desks, beds, chairs, and heating systems. 

You can freely use shared areas like kitchens, study and leisure rooms, as well as laundry rooms. The rent can be paid upon arrival in cash or by card at the reception.

The monthly rent for a room in the dormitory is around €150. The price includes the usage of all the facilities around the buildings and the utilities like electricity and water. 

For the students who prefer to live on their own, Medlink Students will make sure to find the best accommodation that suits their needs. A single-bedroom apartment in Prague costs around €600 per month. For utilities and living expenses, you will need around €600 monthly.

Term Dates

The classes for the winter semester begin on 29 September and last until 23 January. The exam session is held from the end of the classes until 21 February. 

The summer semester starts on 22 February and ends on 05 June. It is followed by a 3-week examination period.
