Poznan University of Medical Sciences is arguably the best medical university in Poland and is particularly famous among (but not limited to) international students from the US and Canada. Its history dates back to 1920, which is when the Medical, Dental, and Pharmaceutical Faculties were established at the University of Poznan.
In 1950 however, the medical, dental and pharmacy faculties detached to form what is now the University of Medical Sciences in Poznan. As far as English courses are concerned, the university introduced them for the first time in 1993. PUMS boasts an impressive 27+ years of teaching medical sciences to students from all over the world.
Poznan University of Medical Sciences also runs a small advanced-medicine route aimed at American and Canadian degree holders who study on a different system than the UK. Students in those countries usually study a pre-med Bachelor’s course specifically tailored to cover the first pre-clinical subjects of medicine. Then they apply for the graduate medicine pathway. This medical school also accepts student transfers.
The university is located at Collegium Maius, Fredry 10, 61-701 Poznań, Poland.

Furthermore, the Poznan University of Medical Sciences offers sports training in basketball, football, tennis, volleyball, weightlifting, and pilates. Aspiring doctors can participate in competitions or just work out for fun.

Poznan means “known” in Polish, and the name is quite fitting since it’s the second most prosperous city in Poland. The city skyline blends historical sights such as Poznan’s Cathedral and the Royal Castle with feats of modern architecture such as the Baltyk building.
With 140,000 students in the city, 1 out of 4 inhabitants is a student. Naturally, Poznan has plenty of ways to accommodate young people and their needs. Juwenalia, Poland’s student holiday, is especially festive here with lots of musical, sports, and cultural events.
The city has a rich cultural life, and its theatre scene deserves special attention. Over 30 theatrical groups in the city perform both on stage and off-theatre. In addition, the local classical music traditions are represented in monthly concerts at the university’s Aula.
The Malta Festival and St Martin’s Day are local holidays with significant contributions to Poznan’s life. The first features various performances, while the second is famous for the horse parade across the city.
