AUC Residency Match List 2026: Stats & Results

AUC Match Rate

When it comes to becoming a doctor in the US or the UK, students often ask us: Will I match? Will I pass my boards? Will my degree actually be recognised?

If you are looking for a strong route into medicine in the US or the UK, you have probably come across the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine. The good news is that the university publishes all of its outcomes data openly, including the American University of the Caribbean match rates, placements, USMLE results & more.

With a 98% residency match rate and global accreditation, AUC turns aspiring doctors into practising physicians. Don't let uncertainty hold you back - find out exactly where you stand.

Here is what the official numbers show.

American University of the Caribbean Match Rate 2026

AUC achieved an over 98% first-time residency attainment rate for 2025-2026 graduates and a 97% average over the last 3 years. This is calculated as the percentage of graduates who were active applicants in the NRMP match and attained residency either directly through the match or outside it.

AUC students and graduates have matched into residency programmes throughout 35 US states and territories. AUC graduates consistently get matched in over 20 specialities, including neurology, surgery, and anaesthesiology, competitive programmes such as ophthalmology, and primary care disciplines like internal medicine and paediatrics.

These figures are comparable to those of strong U.S. and Canadian medical schools.

You can find the AUC School of Medicine residency placement list for 2025 here: AUC 2025 Residency Placements.

AUC USMLE Step 1 Pass Rate

Passing USMLE Step 1 is a part of the curriculum at AUC as it’s a required part for proceeding to the clinical phase and is mandatory for US residencies.

The 5-year cumulative first-time USMLE Step 1 pass rate for AUC is 81%, with Step 2 pass rate being 93%

AUC students' USMLE Step 1 first-time pass rate has consistently exceeded that of non-US and non-Canadian schools for each of the last 5 years. Across MCAT score ranges, AUC students achieve Step 1 first-time pass rates comparable to and in some cases higher than U.S. MD students.

Is American University of the Caribbean Accredited in California and Beyond?

This is 1 of the most-searched questions about AUC, and the answer is yes.

AUC has been approved by the Medical Boards of California, Florida, Texas, New York, and more, which lets graduates apply for licensure in these states. Currently, AUC graduates are practising medicine in over 35 US states.

At the programme level, AUC is accredited by the Accreditation Commission on Colleges of Medicine (ACCM), an authority recognised by the US National Committee on Foreign Medical Education and Accreditation (NCFMEA) as meeting LCME standards, and also recognised by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME).

The ACCM has accredited AUC since 1995. ACCM accreditation is deemed comparable to accreditation of American medical schools, and AUC has been granted continued accreditation for the maximum period.

In practical terms, this accreditation status means AUC graduates are eligible to seek licensure in all 50 U.S. states, Canada, and Puerto Rico. Graduates are also eligible for ECFMG certification, which is the prerequisite for sitting the USMLE and applying for U.S. residency, as well as for PLAB and GMC registration for those pursuing a career in the United Kingdom.

AUC GMC Registrants 2026

As of 2026, AUC has 7 graduates registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) in the UK. With AUC’s dedicated UK pathway, students have very strong prospects for GMC registration and pursuing medical practice in the UK.

Reviewing AUC’s exceptional outcomes - including a 98% residency match rate and a 93% USMLE Step 2 pass rate - proves that a Caribbean medical pathway is a highly secure alternative to hyper-competitive US and UK caps. However, mapping out your board preparation timelines, securing premium clinical rotations, and navigating strict institutional ECFMG guidelines requires absolute strategic precision. What This Means for You

A 97% 3-year first-time residency attainment rate, a 81% USMLE Step 1 and 93% USMLE Step 2 first-time pass rate, accreditation recognised at the federal level in the US, and direct US Medical Board approvals are more than what you need to become a successful doctor.

As a result, the American University of the Caribbean has over 8,500 successful alumni who are practising medicine in the US, the UK, Europe, the Caribbean and more.
