# How TMA Medical Students Are Gaining Global Recognition Before Graduation Source: https://www.medlinkstudents.com/blog/tma-medical-students-global-recognition/ Last updated: 2026-10-12T14:54:30+00:00 Language: en-GB Updated on 12/10/2026 in [Student Life](https://www.medlinkstudents.com/blog/category/student-life/) 3 min read ![TMA-Medical-Students-Are-Gaining-Global-Recognition](https://www.medlinkstudents.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/TMA-Medical-Students-Are-Gaining-Global-Recognition-1024x683.webp) Choosing where to study medicine abroad is a big decision, and 1 of the clearest signs of a university's quality is **how its students perform on the world stage.** [Petre Shotadze Tbilisi Medical Academy](https://www.medlinkstudents.com/universities/petre-shotadze-tbilisi-medical-academy-tma/) (TMA) has just given prospective students 3 excellent reasons to put it on top of their lists. TMA students recently received international recognition for research in the US, Canada, and Germany. Here's what happened, and how students from TMA gained global recognition before graduation. ## US Recognition and Publication in an American Peer-Reviewed Journal [TMA students](https://www.medlinkstudents.com/universities/petre-shotadze-tbilisi-medical-academy-tma/) recently achieved something many medical students only dream of: independently publishing original research in a major international journal. Their study, focused on antibiotic susceptibility as a public health issue, was accepted into [*Reviews and Research in Medical Microbiology*](https://journals.lww.com/revmedmicrobiol/abstract/9900/evaluation_of_antibiotic_susceptibility_patterns.145.aspx), published by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins (LWW), a leading name in US medical publishing. Getting published by a prominent US medical publisher while still a student shows how TMA's curriculum genuinely prepares students to conduct meticulous and publishable research. **For anyone looking to secure a competitive US residency** down the line, this kind of early research experience is exactly the sort of thing that helps an application stand out. --- ### Ready to [become a doctor in the US](https://www.medlinkstudents.com/blog/the-top-medical-schools-in-europe-for-americans/)? > Use the form below to sign up for a free consultation with 1 of our academic advisors and learn how Medlink Students’ TMA application support can help you take the next step towards an international medical career. **Select a convenient date and time below to book your free academic consultation:** --- ## Canadian Collaboration and Getting Featured by CACHE at the University of Toronto TMA's transdisciplinary project, "[*Six Days of a Country Doctor*](https://issuu.com/cache_uoftuhn/docs/together_stories_of_collective_impact_vol._4.2_s)," **was featured in the latest issue of** ***Together: Stories of Collective Impact*****,** a publication by the Centre for Advancing Collaborative Healthcare & Education (CACHE). CACHE is a joint initiative between the University of Toronto and the University Health Network, 2 of Canada's most respected names in healthcare and medical education. Getting featured by an organisation with this pedigree is a direct validation of the quality and creativity of the work coming from students of TMA. ## European Partnerships and Collaborating with Akkon University in Germany **Researchers from TMA recently partnered with Akkon University of Human Sciences in Germany** on a study looking at how residents perceive and respond to health risks linked to outdoor air pollution. Akkon’s Institute for Research in International Assistance (IRIA) is a **Berlin-based research centre focused** on humanitarian assistance, global health, crisis response, and health systems in vulnerable settings. This makes the collaboration especially relevant, as it connects TMA students with applied international research addressing real-world public health challenges. --- > Want to learn more about studying abroad?
